Why we made this moodboard

Below, we’re sharing how we prepared ours and the exact structure we used, so you can create your own with confidence.

A moodboard helps you, your partner, and your photographer align quickly on the vibe, mood, and direction — making communication easier and results more consistent.

Most couples think the problem is being camera-shy or “not having an eye for aesthetics,” but in reality, it’s usually the lack of a clear visual reference.

If you’ve ever struggled to explain what you want for a wedding photoshoot, you’re not alone.

How Chapter Wedding Prepared (Step-by-Step)

Once we chose the 1. overall vibe, we moved on to selecting the 2. location and 3. props that would support that mood.

With those set, we decided on specific 4. poses and 5. camera angles to clearly communicate our expectations to the photographer.

Finally, based on the 6. lighting we preferred, we chose the best time of day for the photoshoot.

Tips:

  1. Mark “must-have shots” vs “optional shots”
  2. Share the full page with our photographer in advance
  3. More props > outfit change: creates variety more efficiently, saves time, and keeps makeup and hair intact throughout the shoot.
  4. For brides: If you want a dynamic change, shoot with your hair down first and switch to an updo later — it gives a fresh look without resetting everything.
